Art & DT
Art and Design and Technology allow children a chance to explore and experience a broad range of cultures and backgrounds which gives them an understanding of the local community , as well as the wider world.
Art and Design and Technology cover a range of activities and artistic skills which are developed and improved over time, giving children opportunities to evaluate and reflect upon their learning and to understand the importance of implementing their ideas effectively.
We include creative activities across the curriculum to enhance a love of learning and promote accessibility. We encourage children to participate in a variety of creative experiences through which we aim to build up the confidence of all children.
Art
In our Art lessons we develop creative thinking, originality and imaginative thought. Pupils have the opportunity to use a variety of media to develop their skills, e.g. drawing, printing, dyeing, painting, sketching, using clay and other materials for 3D modelling. Links are made to other areas of the curriculum in order to provide context, and inspiration. All pupils learn from and about artists and art in different cultures and use artists' work, visiting artists and trips to art galleries to stimulate and inform their own work.
Design and Technology
Children work on both individual and group projects in Design and Technology, using a wide range of materials and developing their skills in planning, designing and making. We value and promote pupils creative skills and their awareness and knowledge of products in the environment, investigating structures, control, mechanisms, textiles and food.
