Geography
At Henry Maynard, pupils are inspired about the world around them and curious to learn more about its geography. Learning is organised into 4 strands that are covered in the Spring and Summer terms. These are locational knowledge, place knowledge, human and physical processes and geographical skills. Pupils are taught in depth about a country every year (for example, Japan in Year 3) and Pupils’ knowledge, skills and understanding are built upon through successive years towards clearly identified year group learning outcomes. Pupils learn to use geographical skills by using a variety of maps, atlases, globes, digital maps, aerial images & plans. They carry out purposeful fieldwork such as map making and data collection in our local area.
