Equality Information

Henry Maynard Primary School and Nursery is committed to ensuring equality of provision throughout our school community. At our school we are all committed to promoting a learning and teaching environment that embeds the values of inclusive educational practices. We aim to ensure that education is accessible and relevant to all our learners, to respect each other and to celebrate diversity and difference.

We are committed to a policy of equal opportunities for all;

regardless of class, disability, ethnic origin, gender, sexuality, family make-up, belief (religious or non-religious), or any other individual special need.

We value the many different cultures of our school and local community and know that our school benefits from the diverse and wide cultural inheritance of our children.

Any incident of a discriminatory nature is treated very seriously and we have a formal procedure for dealing with such incidents.

We have a general duty under the Equality Act 2010 to:

  • promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experience, both in and beyond the school
  • tackle prejudice and promote understanding in relation to people with disabilities
  • ensure that all pupils are given similar opportunities with regards to after-school clubs and activities
  • allow equal access to information for all parents
  • ensure the school environment is accessible as possible to all pupils, staff and visitors.
